Romans Chapter 15 Verses

1    Yet we the able (dunatoi – with power) are obligated (opheilomen – owe; ought) to bear the impotence (adunaton – powerlessness; inability) of the weak, and not to please ourselves.

2    For each of us, let him be pleasing to the neighbour into the good toward edification (oikodomen  home-building; a building up).

3    For also the Christ pleased not Himself; but, according as it has been written, ‘The reproaches of those reproaching You fell upon Me.’

4    For whatever was written before, was written for our teaching (didaskalian) that through the endurance (hupomones) and the consolation of the Scriptures (writings), we may have hope (echomen – sure expectation).

5     Yet the God of the endurance and of the consolation, may He grant to you the same inclination (phronein  – consideration; attitude?) (toward) in one another according to Christ Jesus,

6     that with one accord (homothumadon  – the same mind) in one mouth you may be glorifying the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.

7     Wherefore (through which) receive one another according as also the Christ received (took) us into glory of God.

8     Yet I say that Jesus Christ a servant to have become (became a servant?) of circumcision for (the) sake of truth of God, to confirm the promises of the (meaning: belonging or pertaining to the fathers) fathers,

9    yet the Gentiles (ethne) for the sake of mercy to glorify the God, as it has been written, ‘Through this shall I confess to You in nations (ethnesin), and to Your Name shall I make music (psalo).

10   And again he says, ‘Rejoice (euphranthete – make merry; be glad), nations, with His people!’

11  And again, ‘Praise the Lord, all the nations; and praise Him, all the peoples!’

12   And again Isaiah says, ‘The root of Jesse shall be, and Him rising to be chief of nations; on Him shall the nations hope (trust).

13   Yet the God of the hope, may He be filling you with all joy and peace in the believing (pisteuein, hope), that you abound in the hope (expectation) in the power of the Holy Ghost!

14  Yet I have been persuaded, my brethren, also I myself, concerning you, that also yourselves are full (mestoi – lit: bulging; distended; bursting) of goodness, having been filled with all knowledge, able also to admonish one another!

15  Yet, I wrote more boldly to you, in part, as reminding (prompting) you, because of the grace being given to me under the God,

16   that I be the minister (servant – leitourgon) of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles (nations), ministering (hierourgounta – holy + work; priestly work? – acting as priest) the gospel of the God, that the offering of the nations may become acceptable (well-received), having been sanctified in Holy Spirit (spirit holy).

17   I have, then, boasting in Christ Jesus toward the God,

18      for I dare not to speak of any of those things which Christ hath not wrought by me, to make the Gentiles obedient, by word and deed,           OR

for not I dare to be speaking any of which not effects Christ through me into obedience of nations to saying (to word) and to work (to act)           OR

for I am not daring to be speaking anything which Christ (does) not effect through (by) me into (or: toward the) obedience of nations to word and to deed   OR

not because (for) I will dare to be speaking any of which (anything) Christ (does) not effect (cause) through me into the obedience of nations to (in) word and to (in) actions

19   in power of signs and miracles in power of the Spirit of God, so that I from Jerusalem, and around to Illyricum, have filled the gospel of the Christ.

20   Yet, being thus ambitious to proclaim the gospel not where Christ is named, that I not build upon another person’s foundation,

21    but according as it has been written, ‘To whom it was not proclaimed about Him, they shall see; and who have not heard shall understand.’

22   through which also I was much hindered from coming to you.

23   But now, having no more place in these regions, yet having a longing to be coming to you from many years,

24   whenever I may be going into Spain, I shall come to you, for I hope, going through, to see you and by you to be sent forward, if first by you I should in part be filled. (should be partly filled of you – may either mean that they will partly fill him, or that he will have a partial share of them through his (short) visit with them)

25   But now I am going into Jerusalem serving to the saints.

26   For Macedonia and Achaia delight (eudokesan – seems good) to make some contribution to the poor of the saints of those in Jerusalem.

27   For they are pleased – and their debtors they are, for if of their spiritual (things, benefits; pneumatikois), the nations (Gentiles) participate (communion), they ought also in the fleshly (matters; sarkikois) to serve to them.

28   This then accomplishing, and sealing to them this fruit, I shall come away through you into Spain.

29   I have perceived yet that coming to you, in filling of the blessing (of blessedness) of the gospel of Christ I shall be coming.

30   I am yet entreating you, brothers, through our Lord, Jesus Christ, and through the love of the Spirit, to struggle (contend) together with me in the prayers for me to God,

31   that I should be delivered from the unbelieving (unbelievers) in Judaea; and that my service, (diakonia) that (is) to Jerusalem, may become well-received to the saints,

32   that in joy I may come to you through (the) will of God, and I should be resting together with you.

33   Yet (still; in the sense of continuing) the God of the peace (be) with you all. Amen.
